Šútovo

Šútovo (Hungarian Suto until 1907 Sutto ) a place and a municipality in the north of Slovakia with 526 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011) and is located in Okres Martin, a portion of the higher administrative unit Žilinský.

Geography

The Šútovo lies in the traditional region of Turz is located at the far northeastern edge of the basin Turčianska kotlina under the Malá Fatra Mountains, located north of the town. At the eastern edge of the municipality of Bach Sutovsky Brook, which flows into the Waag just before the reservoir runs Krpeľany. The N.M. at an altitude of 460 m located village center is located 19 kilometers north-east of Martin.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1403 as Suto writing. At first he was different nobles, since 1470 to 1848 then (again) to the manor of Castle Sklabiňa. Due to the boundary layer in the former county Turz served the residents in the guard for the castle, later they were concerned with agriculture and crafts.
