Svätoplukovo

Svätoplukovo ( until 1948 slovak " Šalgov "; Hungarian Salgó ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 1324 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Nitra, a part of the Nitriansky kraj.

Geography

The municipality is located in the south of Hillsbrad Nitrianska pahorkatina ( part of the Danube 's hill country ) creek at the confluence of the streams and creek Cabajský Mlynský. The center is located at an altitude of 145 m nm and is 12 kilometers away from Nitra.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1386 as Salgow writing and belonged to the manor of Castle Gýmeš ( at Jelenec ). 1787 were counted 65 houses and 478 inhabitants in 1828 105 houses and 759 inhabitants.

Until 1918, belonged to the lying in the county Neutra place the Kingdom of Hungary and came after Czechoslovakia or Slovakia today.

In 1948, the name was derived from national political reasons Svätoplukovo (after the King of Great Moravia Svatopluk I. ) changed. From 1976 to 1990, the village was part of the neighboring municipality Mojmírovce.
