Svetlana Buraga

Svetlana Buraga (Russian Светлана Бурага, English transcription Svetlana Buraga, . Born September 4, 1965 in Minsk) is a former Belarusian athlete, which was mainly in the heptathlon successful.

Starting yet for the Soviet Union she won at the World Athletics Championships 1987 in Rome with 5982 points to fourteenth place in the heptathlon. In the same year she won with 6507 points at the Athletics European Cup the all-rounder in Arles. In 1988, she was at the Olympics in Seoul with 6232 points in ten.

The greatest success of her career, she celebrated as a starter for Belarus at the World Athletics Championships in Stuttgart in 1993. With a personal best and national record of 6635 points, she won the bronze medal behind Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Sabine Braun. 1995 Buraga was at the IAAF World Indoor Athletics Championships in Barcelona with 4466 points Fourth in the pentathlon.

Svetlana Buraga is 1,68 m tall and had a competition weight of 56 kg.
