Svilen Neykov

Swilen Emilow Nejkow (. Bulgarian Свилен Емилов Нейков, translit Svilen Emilov Nejkov, English also Svilen Neykov Emilov written; born December 14, 1964 in Varna, Bulgaria) is a Bulgarian athlete, politician of the party GERB and current sports minister of the country.

Life

Swilen Nejkow was between 1987 and 1991 student of National Sports Academy Sofia. He was several times over the years Bulgarian champion in rowing. To this end, he was a finalist at the World Rowing Championships in Bled in 1989 and Tasmania (1990). He became world champion in the Student Summer Olympics in Duisburg in 1989.

Since 2006 he works as a conditioning coach at CSKA Sofia and as a lecturer at the National Sports Academy, Sofia. Since 2009 he has been Minister of Sports in the country in the government of Boyko Borisov.

Nejkow is married to the rowing Olympic champion Rumjana Nejkowa, with whom he has two sons and their coach he is.
