Święte, West Pomeranian Voivodeship

Święte ( German Schwendt ) is a village in Gmina Stargard ( Stargard in Pomerania ) in Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Geographical location

Święte located in Pomerania, about four kilometers southeast of the town of Stargard and 36 kilometers east of the city of Stettin ( Szczecin) in the vicinity of the river is the river Ihna Krampehl, the municipal boundary to the village Strachocin ( Zartzig ).

History

The village was formerly a town of Stargard property and had to pay to various spiritual foundations of the city taxes. Around the year 1780, there were eight full Schwendt farmers, twelve Kossäten, four Büdner, a schoolmaster, an inn, which was inhabited by a Kossäten, and a total of 36 households. In 1930 the boundaries of the municipality Schwendt had a surface area of 5.2 km ², and in the municipal area, a total of 43 residential buildings. Schwendt was the only city of the municipality. In the year 1925 246 inhabitants were counted in Schwendt, which were distributed to 62 households.

By 1945 Schwendt belonged to the district of Pomerania Pomerania.

Towards the end of World War II Schwendt early March 1945 was occupied by the Soviet army. After the war, the town was placed under Polish administration. Schwendt was renamed Święte.

Religion

The population in 1945 to present in Schwendt belonged to a large majority of the Protestant denomination. In 1925 there was a population in Schwendt, who belonged to the Catholic faith.

Mineral spring

About three kilometers south-east of the village rises on the river Krampehl from a mountain a mineral spring, called fountain of health, which was much frequented in the 18th century.
