Sydney FC W-League

Sydney FC Women is an Australian women's football team from Sydney, New South Wales. The professional team was founded in 2008 and plays in the W-League, the highest level of female football league in the country. The team belongs to the football club Sydney FC plays its professional men's team in the A-League.

History

2008/ 09 - Foundation and first season

For the 2008/09 season, the Australian football federation founded the professional women's football league, the W-League. In the same year, the Sydney FC decided next to his playing in the A-League professional men's team also set up a women's team. In order for the women's team of the Sydney FC was one of the eight founding members of the new league. The club engaged the Australian coach Alen Stajčić. Stajčić led the team at the end of the first season in fourth place in the table. Thus the collection in the W- League play- offs had succeeded. In the semifinals, the team met the Queensland Roar. 2009 - Second Season

In the second season, the team obtained the first place in the table at the end of the season. Thus the women succeeded the victory of the "W -League Premiership " and of making the play -offs. The semi-final was won by Sydney FC against Canberra United FC 3-0. In the final game of the play-offs, the Grand Final, the team met the Brisbane Roar. 2010/11 - Third Season

After a successful season last year, the Sydney FC could again earn the top spot and again the "W -League Premiership ". 2011/12 - Fourth Season

In the season 2011/12 Sydney FC took third place in the table. In the semi final they met the Brisbane Roar. After a 1-1 aet of Sydney FC were beaten 5-3 on penalties.

2012/13 - Fifth Season

In the fifth season of Sydney FC earned fourth place and moved again in the play-offs. In the semifinals, the team met again on the Brisbane Roar and won with 2:3. In the Grand Final of the Sydney FC was, with a 3-1 win over Melbourne Victory, for the second time "W -League champion".

2013/14 - Sixth Season

In the season 2013/14 the team took second place in the table and moved into the W-League play-offs. In the semifinals, the team lost 2:3 against the Melbourne Victory FC and thus missed the finals.
