The Sydney Ice Dogs are a semi-professional Australian hockey club from Liverpool, New South Wales, which was founded in 2002 and plays in the Australian Ice Hockey League.

History

The Sydney Ice Dogs were together with Melbourne Ice and Newcastle North included as part of the League Extensions 2002 Stars in the Australian Ice Hockey League, the top division of the country. Equal in their second season reached the Ice Dogs 2003 Playoff Finals, subject to there but with 1:4 the North Stars, who also were only in their second season. A year later, Western Sydney returned the favor with a 3-1 final victory over Newcastle. Because of these two final games, there is a rivalry between the supporters groups from both teams. Then it took nine years for the Ice Dogs have won their second national title.
