Melbourne Ice is a semi-professional Australian Hockey Club from Melbourne, which was founded in 2002 and plays in the Australian Ice Hockey League.

History

Melbourne Ice was founded in 2002 and in the course of the league's extension was added in the same year in the Australian Ice Hockey League, the top division of the country. While the crew is always on the end of the table stood in the first four seasons of existence, at number 5 or 6, Ice won the 2006 surprise VIP Cup as the best team in the regular season. In the following Playoffs one was third, which so far was the best performance in the history of Melbourne Ice. In the following two seasons they moved each one to the playoff semifinals.

In 2010 the Melbourne Ice sealed the biggest success of their Club history as they the Goodall Cup, the Australian Championship title won by a 6-4 final victory over the Adelaide Adrenaline for the first time. This success could be repeated as early as next year the team. They also took first place in the regular season and got the H Newman Reid Trophy introduced in 2010. In 2012 the team won the championship of the AIHL.

Stadium

The home matches of Melbourne Ice are held since 2010 in the new National Ice Sports Centre (the Icehouse ) in Melbourne.
