Sylwester Bednarek

Sylwester Bednarek ( born April 28, 1989 in Głowno ) is a Polish high jumper.

First he made since 2005 in the youth and junior area with several top places in international championships attention. Here, his best result was winning the silver medal at the IAAF World Junior Championships 2008 in Bydgoszcz.

In 2009 he established himself in the adult area. In the Indoor Athletics Championships in Turin, he still failed to qualify. A few months later at the World Championships in Berlin, he surprisingly won the bronze medal. He achieved a new personal best with a height of 2.32 m skipped. The third place he shared with the same height German Raul Spank. The world champion Yaroslav Rybakov and runner-up Kyriakos Ioannou had also skipped 2.32 m, but were considered due to the reduced number of their failed attempts before Bednarek and spank. For his athletic achievements Bednarek was awarded the Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland.

Sylwester Bednarek has a competition weight of 70 kg at a height of 1.96 m. He starts for the Rudzki Klub Sportowy in Łódź.
