Syrian Catholic Eparchy of Our Lady of Deliverance of Newark

The Eparchy of Our Lady of Deliverance of Newark (Latin: Eparchia Dominae nostrae Liberationis Novarcensis Syrorum ) is an eparchy of the united with the Roman Catholic Church, Syriac Catholic Church, headquartered in Newark, New Jersey, in the United States of America.

History

Until 1995, were under the Syrian Catholic communities in the United States and Canada, the jurisdiction of the local bishops of the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic Church.

Pope John Paul II established the Eparchy with the Apostolic Constitution Principis Apostolorum on November 6, 1995.

In 2009, Bishop Younan was elected as Primate of the Syriac Catholic Church and Patriarch of Antioch and all the East of the Syrians. In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI appointed. Yousif Benham Habash for the second local Ordinary.
