T. S. Cook

Thomas Stephen Cook ( born August 25, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio; † January 5, 2013 in Hollywood, California ) was an American screenwriter and film producer.

Life

Cook began his career in the film business in 1976 with a screenplay for television series Baretta. 1978 followed a script for an episode of the series The Paper Chase, in the following year, followed by his participation in The China Syndrome, his only film production. Subsequently, he was involved until 2008 exclusively to television productions. The screenplay for the 1995 film created to fly The honor is a story of Cook basis.

For the screenplay for The China Syndrome Cook and his colleagues Mike Gray and James Bridges were nominated in 1980 for Best Original Screenplay for the Oscar in the category. In addition, they received in the same year was nominated for a BAFTA Film Award and a Golden Globe. The Writers Guild of America honored the three with a WGA Award.

For his screenplay for Operation Night Breaker Cook received a further 1990 WGA Award.

Cook died of cancer. He was married to the novelist Marie Monique de Varennes and the father of three children.
