Tadeusz Adamowski

Tadeusz " Ralf" Adamowski ( born November 19, 1901 in Lausanne, Switzerland, † August 1994 in New York City New York, USA) was a Polish ice hockey player and coach.

Career

Tadeusz Adamowski was born as the son of Polish emigrants in the United States - Switzerland, as they were on a visit to Europe. After his return to the U.S., he attended Harvard University, where he played alongside various other sports Hockey. Despite the planned return to a Poland - stay, he stayed and played instead Hockey for AZS Warsaw. With the team he won 1926-1931 five consecutive Polish league titles. During his time in Poland, he was also active as a coach. During World War II he served as a reservist in the Polish Army and fell into German captivity. This he had to spend in Woldenberg mostly in the officers' camp II C. After the war he returned to the United States, where he worked for UNICEF.

Internationally

For the Polish national ice hockey team Adamowski participated in the Olympic Winter Games in 1928 in St. Moritz in part as team captain. He scored in the tournament in two games two goals. At the European Championships 1929, he won the silver medal with his country. Also the silver medal at the European championship he won with Poland in the World Cup in 1931, when the European Championship was part of the World Cup. Overall, he played 40 international matches in which he scored 16 goals.

Family

Tadeusz Adamowski came from a family of artists. His uncle Tymoteusz Adamowski was a renowned musician who has worked among others for the Boston Pops Orchestra. Together with Tadeusz ' Father Józef and his wife Antonia, they formed the Adamowski Trio. His sister Helenka Pantaleoni was an actress, human rights activist and founder of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. His Aunt Helen was the wife of the diplomat Ignacy Jan Paderewski.
