Taishi Ci

Taishi Ci (太史慈), style name Ziyi (* 166, † 206) was a general of the Wu Dynasty during the Three Kingdoms in ancient China.

Taishi Ci came from the commandant Donglai, where he worked after his studies as a clergyman. After a confrontation with the provincial administrators (186 ) Taishi Ci himself deposed by Liaodong. There sat the governor of Beihai, Kong Rong, in touch with him. During the uprising of the Yellow Turbans (193 ), he helped Kong Rong, by breaking through the enemy lines during a siege of the Yellow Turbans and Liu requested the case of support.

After the Yellow Turban Rebellion joined Taishi Ci his compatriot Liu Yao, who fought south of the Yangtze River against the warlord Sun Ce. Taishi Ci initially received no command, but was charged with the oversight of those stocks. During an attack by Sun Ce, there was an inconclusive duel between the two rivals.

After several defeats Liu Yao moved back to Yuzhang while Taishi Ci remained in the western Danyang and refine his position. He proclaimed himself governor and allied south of the Yangtze River with neighboring tribes in the hill country. In the year 198 Taishi Ci Sun Ce was defeated and taken prisoner. The Warlord not had him executed, but appointed him as his bodyguard. Taishi Cis first job was reconnaissance in Yuzhang where Liu Yao had recently passed away. In its report towards Sun Ce conquered then Yuzhang.

A little later, Sun Ce appointed his bodyguard to the commander of Jianchang in the west of Yuzhang. There Taishi Ci defended the region against the raids of the neighboring governor Liu Biao. After Sun Ces death (200 ) his brother and successor Sun Quan Taishi Ci was an extended command, which also included the southern boundary of Yuzhang.

According to tradition, in the Chronicles of the Three Kingdoms was Taishi Ci seven feet tall (1.78 m) and an excellent archer.
