Liu Yao (warlord)

Liu Yao (Chinese刘 繇), style name Zhengli (* 156, † 198) was an officer of the Han Dynasty.

He was born in 156, the second son of Liu Wei in Donglai, Mouping. He was a relative of the imperial Liu family and bore the title of Marquis of Mouping. Liu Chong, his paternal uncle, served as Grand Commander. His older brother Liu Dai, farm name Gongshan, served as a low official in the Yan Province.

In 174, Liu Yao followed his father into battle against bandits. He was able to capture their leader and restore peace in the country. For this he was promoted to the nobles of the palace. In the year 194, he was appointed by the regime in Chang'an to the Imperial Inspector of Yang province.

In the year 195 to Yuan Shu was in Huai Nan, and Liu Yao feared a confrontation with him. He sent his ambassadors to Danyang and Qu'e that of Wu Jing were ( the Sun Jian's brother ) and Sun Ben stopped. Yuan Shu then planned to eliminate Liu Yao, and sent his troops out. Liu Yao and Zhang Ying Neng Fan sent for the defense of the Huai River, which stayed the invaders. Yuan Shu wanted to use even for the Imperial Inspector of Yang province, and fought against Liu Yao's forces 196 with Ben Sun and Wu Jing. Later they were joined to Sun Ce, who broke resistance of 10,000 man Zhang Ying.

Liu Yao retired to Hui Ji and Zhang Ying sent upstream to station its troops in Pengze. Ze Rong was also sent and received orders to kill the United manager Zhu Hao. Ze Rong was 197 at the mountain defeated Zouru, and next year ill Liu Yao and died in Yuzhang. In the Biography of Taishi Ci in Sanguo Zhi mentions that Liu Yao declared himself Great managers of Danyang before his death.
