Takeshi Matsuda (Japanese松田 丈 志, Matsuda Takeshi, born June 23, 1984 in Miyazaki ) is a Japanese swimmer.

Career

Matsuda reached three finals at the Short Course World Championships in 2004 in Indianapolis. About 400 m freestyle and the 4 × 100-meter medley relay, he reached sixth place, about 200m butterfly Matsuda was eighth. Once he reached a final at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. About 400 m freestyle, he finished eighth and last in order. Over 1500 m freestyle he dropped out in advance, about 200 m butterfly in the semifinals. The final international breakthrough of the Japanese during the World Cup 2005 in Montreal by winning the silver medal in the 200 m butterfly stretch. With the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay Matsuda was fifth. Twice bronze he won the 1500m freestyle and 200m butterfly at the Pan Pacific Games in Victoria the following year. With the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay, he was also fourth, about 400 m freestyle sixth. He also appeared at the Summer Universiade in 2005 and won bronze in the 400m and 800m freestyle and silver over 200m freestyle and the relay.

His best finish at the 2007 World Championships in Melbourne Matsuda reached with the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay. On other routes, the Japanese did not qualify for finals. In Beijing he participated in Olympic Games for the second time. After he retired about 400 m freestyle during preprocessing, it reached over 200 m butterfly and reached the finals there behind Michael Phelps and László Cseh third place.
