Talco (band)

Talco is an Italian ska-punk band from Marghera, Venice, which was founded in 2000 /2001. The band's name comes from the Italian name for talc, which have fooled around his own words in their infancy, the band members.

History

Under the name of " Talco Mentolato " Talco began in 2000 to play their first gigs. So they also won in April 2001 with "Aurora on Stage" a band competition. In the same year they released the first studio demo and changed their name to " Talco ". Then they played initially only live until they " Tutti Assolti " published in 2004. The line-up changed several times easily.

After further tours in Italy, Germany and Switzerland in early 2007 was released with "Combat Circus" their second album, for the song " La Carovana " a video also was produced. Will be followed by performances at the "Move against G8 " Festival in Berlin and a small tour in Germany in the fall. After this tour, a small break in the band took place, as with Terra (trumpet ) and Keko (bass), two long-time members left the band.

The band set out with high-pressure equal to the new album, released in the form of " Mazel Tov " in April 2008. Since the release, the band - whenever it allow the jobs of members - go live. Due to this fact Talco play unlike other bands often many short trips or weekends, but spread over the whole year. In the summer of 2011, they were seen to over 20 festivals, including the Tauber Valley Festival, Open Flair or the Woodstock Stop in Poland.

In November 2012, the fifth and latest album currently Talco appeared. It's called " Gran Galà " and includes a total of 15 songs. Since the release of her album Talco has given all 77 concerts from December 2012 until the end of 2013 throughout Europe and Russia. A popular destination for Italians is always Germany.

Style

The band plays clean, some fast ska with some punk influences. The music is extremely danceable and very influenced by the band Ska -P and by Italian folk music. The band members describe their music as Patchanka with origins and influences of bands like Mano Negra, Gogol Bordello but also influences from modern Balkan beats. In Italy they are often referred to as "Combat Ska ", which expression is not very common in Germany. He will be mainly used for bands like Banda Bassotti, Redska or indeed Talco, which are often faster, political and punky, as many of the 2-Tone influenced ska bands.

The band knows how to arrange both fast and slow songs with not too intrusive brass. In addition to the usual cast the ska-punk guitars and instruments come through on the album Mazel Tov for the first time a fiddle to use, also an accordion- like sound effect is created in some songs with the keyboard. The songs " Diari Perduti " from the album "Combat Circus " and " Il Lamento del Mare " to " Mazel Tov " were combined with the female voice of Federica Gozzo, a friend of the band with Argentine roots, added.
