Title list

The texts are taken from the Kalevala, First Doom and Forgotten Sunrise written by Pasi Koskinen, Light My Fire by The Doors. Style

Music

In Tales from the Thousand Lakes Amorphis style combines elements of death metal and doom metal with folk elements. Amorphis experimented as one of the first death metal bands with clean vocals, the band also used amplified synthesizer and piano. The clean singing is sometimes referred to as " inappropriate " ( All Music Guide in the review to Tales from the Thousand Lakes ), but often referred to as a "perfect mix of clear and death metal vocals. " ( Silence in the review to Tales from the Thousand Lakes )

Text and Cover

Amorphis took the lyrics of the Kalevala translation The Kalevala by Keith Bosley from the year 1989.

Successes and criticism

Tales from the Thousand Lakes is often referred to as the best Amorphis album. The fan Thousand Tales - The Gathering writes about Tales from the Thousand Lakes:

" 1993 published by Amorphis Tales from the Thousand Lakes one of the great landmarks of Death Metal. The cult album is regarded as one of the first melodic DM- discs long before various groups indulged in the Gothenburg sound. "

Ville Lamminaho from the Finnish Death Metal band called Noumena Tales from the Thousand Lakes " one of the best records of all time, which defined a whole genre " (Ville Lamminaho in an interview ) Tales from the Thousand Lakes is still the most important Amorphis referred album. Even in 2001, after several albums that came up in the Finnish Top 10 charts, Tomi Koivusaari said in an interview: " The Tales ... has sold better than any other Amorphis album. " ( Tomi Koivusaari in an interview to Am Universum on Vampster ) The album was until 2002, more than 250,000 copies sold worldwide.
