Tamchinsky datsan

The Tamtschinski - Dazan (Russian Тамчинский дацан, also Гусиноозёрский дацан ) is a Dazan (Buddhist monastery with university) at the southwestern end of the Gussinojesees at settlement Gussinoje Ozero near the village Gussinoosjorsk (Republic of Buryatia, Russia). It was founded in 1741, since 1861 he was a teaching facility. From 1809 until its closure in 1938 and partially destroyed it was the residence of the highest Buddhist hierarchy in Buryatia and thus a religious center. 1957 Dazan of the Buryat government was declared a historic monument. A Dugan (single temple on the grounds Dazan ) was in the 1973 Opened spent Ethnographic Museum of Transbaikalia. In 1990 the monastery was reopened.
