Tampere sub-region

The administrative community Tampere (Finnish Tampere seutukunta ) is one of six administrative Communities ( seutukunta ) of the Finnish landscape Pirkanmaa. As of December 31, 2007 there lived 341 131 people.

At the administrative community Tampere include the following ten cities and towns:

• Hämeenkyrö
• Kangasala
• Lempäälä
• Nokia
• Orivesi
• Pälkäne
• Pirkkala
• Tampere
• Vesilahti
• Ylöjärvi

On 1 January 2005 the municipality Sahalahti was incorporated into the municipality Kangasala and changed as from the administrative community Südostpirkanmaa in the administrative community Tampere. On 1 January 2007, the incorporation of Viljakkala took place in the neighboring town of Ylöjärvi. At the beginning of 2010, the municipality of Hämeenkyrö Nordwestpirkanmaa and the city of Orivesi Oberpirkanmaa changed in the administrative community Tampere. Early 2011, the administrative community Tampere grew around the area of the disbanded governing community Südostpirkanmaa, when the community was incorporated into Kuhmalahti Kangasala and the only remaining community Pälkäne also joined the administrative community Tampere.
