The Laguna Tanguiña lies at a distance of seven kilometers west of the Río Iténez, border to Brazil, in the nature reserve Reserva Forestal Iténez. The lake lies at an altitude of 141 m and extends in length to 4.8 kilometers in width up to 2.9 km. Its area is 11.5 square kilometers and the perimeter of the lake is 12.9 kilometers.
