Tanya Huff

Tanya Sue Huff ( born 1957 in Halifax, Nova Scotia ) is a Canadian fantasy author.

Biography

Although born in Nova Scotia, she grew up in Kingston, Ontario. Her first work, she published ten years. From 1975 to 1979 she was part of the Canadian Naval Reserve, where she worked as a cook. Then she opened her Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in Radio and Television Arts at Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario.

In the early '80s, she worked on Mr. Gameway 's Ark, a toy store. Subsequently (1984-1992), she was employed at Bakka (Toronto), North America's oldest science fiction bookstore. During this time, she wrote seven novels and nine short stories, which were gradually released. She was a member of the Bunch of Seven, a group of writers. In 1992 she moved with her four cats to rural Ontario, where she still lives with her partner Fiona Patton today. Your current household consists of 6 cats and a Chihuahua. Huff is one of the most well-known Canadian authors in the category Contemporary Fantasy. Many of her stories are set in places where they lived, Toronto, Kingston and more.

The Chronicles of the Keeper

Claire is a guardian, determined to hold together the universe. One day she comes into a hotel with a hole to hell. Other characters in the show are Austin, a talking cat, Claire's friend Dean and her sister Diana, also guardian.

Kigh series ( Quarters series)

Includes a magical world to musicians ( Barden ) and the invasion threat to the neighboring country. The first book is about the sister of the king, who is pregnant without permission. The second and the third book is about a brother and sister and the fourth takes place in a distant land.

Crystal

The girl Crystal is born, to face as the last sorceress against the evil Kraydak.

Victory Nelson - Blood series

Victoria ( Vicki, Victory ) Nelson was a policewoman, who resigned from the service because of their eye disease ( retinitis pigmentosa ). She learns Henry Fitzroy know, a vampire and writer of historical love stories. Henry is the illegitimate son of Henry VIII More characters are Mike Celluci, Vicki's former partner and lover, as well as Tony, an informant. Due to her illness, Vicky is half blind and works as a private investigator. Together with Henry it clears up some supernatural crimes. The series takes place predominantly in Toronto. In Blood Bank is not an independent novel, here are the 8 Vicky Nelson short stories gathered which Tanya Huff for various anthologies wrote ( among other things for Vampire Detectives, DAW 1995)

Smoke and ... series

Some follow-up stories of Victory -Nelson Books, with Tony in the lead role. Tony works at a TV station, which ironically produces a series about a vampire detective.

Adaptations

In the summer of 2006, started to produce the Victoria Nelson stories under the name Blood Ties as a television series. The series had on 11 March 2007 premiere in Lifetime Network, a U.S. television channel. In spring, the series will also be shown on Canadian television. The main role is played by Canadian actress Christina Cox. In Germany, the series airs on RTL II since 26 October 2008. Since February 2008, the series on the Austrian private channel ATV is shown.
