Tapisciaceae

The Tapisciaceae are a small family of plants within the small order of Huerteales. In this family are only two genera with only five to six species.

Occurrence

The family owns a disjoint area: The home of Tapiscia species is China, which Huertea species are native to the Caribbean islands and in northern South America.

Description

There are deciduous trees. The stalked, alternate and spirally arranged leaves and unpaired pinnate with five to seven leaflets or fingered three parts. The leaflets have a serrated edge notched up. Stipules are usually present.

You are androdiözisch, which means there are male and hermaphrodite plants in a species The flowers are borne in axillary, paniculate inflorescences. The small, radial symmetry and five petals have a double perianth and are male or hermaphrodite. The flower cup ( hypanthium ) is short. The five sepals are usually grown only short tubular. The five free petals are yellow or white. It is only the outer circle of five free, fertile stamens present. The pollen is COLPAT. The discus is small or missing. Two carpels are a syncarp, superior ovaries grown with only one ovule. There are two spreading pen or a stylus zweilappiger available.

Are formed with a fleshy or leathery pericarp stone fruits or berries.

System

The two genera were formerly in the subfamily Tapiscioideae the family of Staphyleaceae ( DC.) Lindl. assigned or the family of Tapisciaceae the order of the Sapindales. In the family of Tapisciaceae are only two species with only five to six types:

  • Huertea Ruiz & Pav: With discus. The home is the Caribbean islands and northern South America. With about four ways: Huertea cubensis Griseb.
  • Huertea glandulosa Ruiz & Pav
  • Huertea granadina Cuatrec.
  • Huertea putumayensis Cuatrec.
  • Tapiscia Olive. Without discus. The drupe -like berries need at least eight months to mature. The deposits are located only in China. With one or two ways: Tapiscia sinensis Oliver: This species thrives at altitudes 500-2200 meters in Anhui, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan and Zhejiang.
  • Tapiscia yunnanensis WCCheng & CDChu: This species thrives at altitudes 1500-2300 meters in Hubei, Sichuan and Yunnan.

A synonym for Tapisciaceae Takht. is Huerteaceae Doweld.
