Tarumá

Tarumã is a village in the department of Santa Cruz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

Tarumã is the third largest city of the canton of La Angostura in the district ( bolivian: Municipio) El Torno in the province of Andrés Ibáñez. The city lies at an altitude of 606 m on the right bank of the river between the towns of El Torno Pirai and La Angostura.

Geography

Tarumã is located in the humid tropical climate on the eastern edge of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Oriental. The region was covered before colonization by subtropical rainforest, but today it is mostly cultivated land.

The mean average temperature of the region is 24 ° C, the annual precipitation is 950 mm (see climate chart La Angostura ). The monthly average temperatures vary between 20 ° C in July and 26 ° C in December and January, the monthly rainfall is productive from November to March and higher than 100 mm, the climate from June to September is arid with rainfall less than 40 mm.

Traffic network

Tarumã lies at a distance of 41 kilometers of road south west of Santa Cruz, the capital of the department.

From the center of Santa Cruz from the paved highway Ruta 7 performs as a four-lane " Grigota Avenue " in a southwesterly direction through the towns of El Carmen, La Guardia and El Torno after Tarumã, and continue on La Angostura, Samaipata and Comarapa to Cochabamba.

Population

The population of the town has nearly doubled in the past two decades. It amounted to 998 inhabitants at the 1992 census, then 1,180 inhabitants at the 2001 census and now 1,611 inhabitants ( 2009 estimate ). Due to immigration history of the population, it presents a significant proportion of Quechua population in the municipality of El Torno 27.7 % of the population speak the Quechua language.
