Tauriers

Tauriers is a commune in the Ardèche, in the Rhône-Alpes region with 177 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). It belongs to the Local Government Association, Val de Ligne. Tauriers is part of the Roman Catholic Community Largentière, which belongs to the parish of Saint Joseph au Pays de Ligne of the diocese of Viviers.

Geography

Tauriers located in southern France in the Massif Central on the edge of the Regional Park of Monts d'Ardèche, 110 kilometers northeast of Montpellier, 1.4 km north-west of Largentière, headquarters of the sub-prefecture of the arrondissement, on an average height of 361 meters above the sea level. The Mairie stands at a height of 413 meters. Neighboring communities of Tauriers are Joanna in the northwest, Rocher in the northeast, Chassiers the east and Sanilhac in the southwest. The municipality has an area of ​​451 hectares, the Ligne runs along its eastern border.

The municipality is one of the type Cfb climate zone ( Köppen and Geiger after ) assigned: Warm Temperate rain climate ( C ), fully wet ( f), the warmest month below 22 ° C, at least four months above 10 ° C ( b). There is a maritime climate with moderate summer.

Economy and infrastructure

In 2009, 22.7 per cent of workers were employed in the town, the others were commuters. 8.8 percent of workers were unemployed.

The municipal area controlled designation of origin (AOC ) for picodon and chestnuts ( Châtaigne d' Ardèche ) and protected geographical indications ( PGI ) apply to sausage ( saucisson de l' Ardèche), ham ( Jambon de l' Ardèche) and wines of the names Ardèche, Comtés Rhodaniens and Méditerranée.
