Security
Access to private data
When establishing a connection TeamViewer first checks the connection types with the current configuration of security measures ( such as firewalls and proxy servers ) can be produced. In 70 % of cases can be produced ( via TCP or UDP) between the two endpoints of the connection after the negotiation of the encryption on the TeamViewer server has a direct connection; the data transfer required for this session is no longer then processed via the TeamViewer server. The manufacturer shall make the documentation a description of the session setup available. It shows when data on the TeamViewer servers are transmitted.
Data transmission
TeamViewer uses an encryption based on the RSA cryptosystem and AES encryption with 256 bit. With direct connections between two computers in the LAN symmetric encryption is used.
According to the manufacturer's man-in- the-middle attacks are not possible. This shall be ensured by the signed key exchange between two key pairs. In this case, the public key (public key ) is directly exchanged and thus the symmetric key generated ( AES 256 bit). The public keys are exchanged via the main server, which confirms the authenticity of the signature by the root certificate. The public key of the root certificate is known to clients, so that the verification of the authenticity of the signature. Thus, there is a secure certificate chain confirming the clients, that a public key belongs to a particular ID.
