Teitur Lassen
Teitur Lassen ( born January 4, 1977 in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, usually only Teitur ) is a Faroese singer-songwriter.
Career
Teitur making music since the age of 13. First he began with an organ, but quickly grabbed a piano and guitar. At the age of 17 he moved with his parents to Holstebro in Denmark. 1996 appeared in the Faroe Islands, the debut album Mark No Limits the same band with Teitur as the lead singer and guitarist. 1997 this group won the Faroese Rock / Pop Song Contest Prix Føroya.
2002 came with Solin above Regnið ( sun and rain), an album in Faroese out, the same year he signed a record deal with Universal Records and moved for two years to New York. He now lives in London.
The album Poetry & Aeroplanes, produced by Rupert Hine, 2003, was described by international critics as one of the best albums of that year. He has been compared to Sting and Paul Simon, do not copy it though. Never before had such a Faroese international success.
The 2006 released album Stay Under The Stars was immediately in the Danish and Faroese charts. In September it was also released in Germany. A single release from this is Louis Louis - a tribute to Louis Armstrong, Teiturs great role model.
On 14 May 2007 came in the Faroe Islands Album Káta Hornið out. It is designed only for the Faroese and Icelandic trade and fully texted in Faroese language. First, it was intended only for the small Faroese market, but the demand went far beyond that. Teitur his homeland has remained faithful else and played eg on the G! Festival.
On March 3, 2007 Teitur won the Danish Music Awards ( " Danish Grammy ") in the category of best Danish singer. This is the highest music award, the artist can obtain an in Denmark. In 2008 he opened the main stage at the Roskilde Festival. An honor international stars is reserved.
The Singer was released in 2008 with his third international album. On 28 February 2009, he was awarded his second "Danish Grammy ".
