Tekovské Nemce

Tekovské Nemce ( until 1948 slovak " Nemce "; Nemtze German, Hungarian Garamnémeti - to 1907 Németi ) is a municipality in the western central Slovakia, with 1060 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). Administratively it belongs to the Okres Zlaté Moravce, which in turn belongs to the district Nitriansky kraj.

Geography

The municipality is located in a transition zone between the lowlands and mountains. N.M. The 244 m lying and the traditional landscape Tekov counting place is located on the northern foothills of the Danube hill country which is part of the Slovak Danube lowland, the creek Roskovice, who comes from the northern mountains Pohronský Inovec. Other features in the area are the mountain Velky Inovec (901 m nm), which is north and the Hron River, which lies to the east. Tekovské Nemce is 11 kilometers from Zlaté Moravce and 20 km from Levice.

History

Tekovské Nemce was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1275 as Nempty after the king Ladislaus IV the place picked up the local squires, and gave it to the abbey in neighboring St. Benedict. The Archdiocese of Gran bought the place in 1291 and partly in 1387 to complete his estate. The main source of income was agriculture. 1563, the town was plundered by attacking Ottoman army, but soon settled again. 1776, he was acquired by the newly established Diocese of Banská Bystrica.

Until 1918, the place was in the county perch in the Kingdom of Hungary and came afterwards to the newly formed Czechoslovakia.

Population

According to 2001 census is Tekovské Nemce almost completely Slovak ( 98%). After religion, the Roman Catholic church dominates with 94.2 %, which is represented here by a Baroque church of All Saints.
