Telesat ( Telesat Canada) is a Canadian satellite communications company based in Ottawa, Ontario and other locations in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Brazil. The company is the fourth largest satellite operators worldwide.

History

Telesat

The Telesat Canada was founded on May 2, 1969 is part of the Bell Canada Society. On 31 October 2007 were handed over to Telesat all shares of Loral Skynet, which were fused into a provider through a contract worth 3.25 billion Canadian dollars. Telesat was a company whose main shareholders are indirectly by the Treaties, the Canadian Public Sector Pension Investment Board and Loral Space & Communications Inc.

The company started in 1962 with Telstar 1 satellite and its first operational later by many more that were also launched under the name Telstar.
