Teodor Kocerka

Teodor Kocerka ( born August 6, 1927 in Bydgoszcz, † September 25, 1999 in Warsaw) was a Polish rower, who was one of the best one - rowers in the world in the 1950s, winning two Olympic medals.

His first international medal winning Teodor Kocerka at the 1952 Olympics when he won from the Soviet Union and the Australian Mervyn Wood Bronze behind Yuri Tjukalow. 1953 occupied Kocerka behind the Yugoslavs Perica Vlasics second place at the European Championship in 1954, he won silver behind the Swiss Alain Colomb. 1955 won Kocerka at the European Championships before Yuri Tjukalow. 1956 Vyacheslav Ivanov won at the European Championships in the German Klaus von Fersen, Kocerka received the bronze medal. At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956, only four rowers reached the final, Kocerka could prevail in his semi-final against New Zealander James Hill and against Klaus von Fersen and pulled behind Ivanov to the final. There, however, Kocerka finished only fourth. 1959 Kocerka won again bronze at the European Championships behind Ivanov and heels. At the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 Kocerka reached his third Olympic final. Behind the sure winner Ivanov fought three rowers to the medals won at the end Achim Hill from East Germany before Silver Teodor Kocerka and James Hill.
