Teoponte

Teoponte is a village in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

Teoponte is the central place of the district ( bolivian: Municipio) Teoponte in the province Larecaja. The village lies on the right bank of the Río Kaka at an altitude of 435 m, a few kilometers below the association of Río Mapiri and Rio Coroico. About 80 km downstream from Teoponte opens the Río Kaka in Puerto Pando in the Río Beni.

Geography

Teoponte located northeast of Lake Titicaca on the eastern edge of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Real in the lowlands of the Río Beni, one of the major rivers of the Amazon lowlands.

The mean average temperature of the region is about 26 ° C, the annual precipitation is around 1600 mm. The region has no distinct temperature pattern on the monthly average temperatures vary only slightly between 23 ° C in June and July and 27 ° C from November to January, and the day and night temperatures have only small fluctuations. The monthly rainfall range from less than 50 mm during the months of June and July, and more than 200 mm from December to February.

Traffic network

Teoponte is located 226 kilometers by road north of La Paz, the capital of the department of the same name.

From La Paz, the partially paved highway Route 3 leads in a northeasterly direction over 160 km Cotapata to Caranavi, then branches off the unpaved Ruta 26 from reaching 70 km Guanay. 8 km from Guanay crosses the Ruta 26 on a road bridge over the Rio Coroico; at this point branches off to the right a dirt road, is accessible via the Teoponte after another 4 km.

Population

The population of the town has increased by about 25 % in the current decade, from 1,421 inhabitants ( 2001 census ) of 1,756 inhabitants ( 2009 estimate ).
