Terry Hart

Jonathan Terry " TJ " Hart ( born October 27, 1946 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States) is a former American astronaut.

Hart received a bachelor's degree in 1968 in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University in 1969 and a master's in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1978, he received a master's degree in electrical engineering from Rutgers University in 1988 and an honorary doctorate in engineering from Lehigh University.

In 1969 Hart to United States Air Force Reserve Command and received pilot training. Until 1973 he worked as an interceptor pilot and then came to the Air National Guard of New Jersey.

Full-time Hart worked from 1968 to 1978 for the Bell Telephone Laboratories.

Astronauts activity

In January 1978, Hart was selected by NASA as an astronaut candidate. Hart was a member of the support team for the Space Shuttle missions STS -1, STS -2, STS -3 and STS- seventh

On April 6, 1984 Hart began as a mission specialist aboard the space shuttle Challenger on mission STS -41 -C. Main task was to repair the defective solar observation satellite SolarMax. In addition, the Long Duration Exposure Facility ( LDEF ) was suspended with 57 experiments and recaptured in a later mission and returned to Earth. After seven days, Hart landed at Edwards Air Force Base.

After leaving NASA Hart moved in 1984 to AT & T and was subsequently inter alia president Loral Skynet in Bedminster, New Jersey.

Terry Hart is married and has two children.
