Thanong Bidaya

Thanong Bidaya (pronounced Thanong Phithaya, Thai: ทน ง พิ ท ยะ; born July 28, 1947 in the province of Suphanburi, Thailand; native Thanong Lamyai - ทน ง ลำไย ) was Finance Minister of Thailand. He is a member of the party Thai Rak Thai (TRT ).

Life

In 1965 he worked for the Japanese government. At the same time, he studied economics at the University of Yokohama in Japan. There he received his bachelor's degree in 1970 and a year later he was able to earn his master's degree at Northwestern University in Illinois. In Illinois in 1978, he received his Ph. D. He was also active as of 1971 for the Ford Foundation. On June 21, 1997, he was the first Finance Minister of Thailand, but it remained only until October 24 of the same year. 2002 to 2005 he was Chairman of Thai Airways International. In 2004 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Yokohama. On 1 August 2005 he was again Minister of Finance. In this position he remained until the military coup on 19 September 2006.
