Thaumatomonadida

The Thaumatomonadida are an order of unicellular eukaryotes that are provided to the Cercozoa.

Features

The representatives feed on heterotrophic. The cells move continues to slide, but can also swim. The cell surface is covered with a shell of imbricate overlapping silicate scales. The cell is flattened and bears two different beating flagella. This putting something underneath the tip or on the ventral side. Some representatives have only a scourge. The cells form Extrusomen. Below the top or at the ventral pit filopodia are formed. Cysts occur. There are representatives that form multinucleate plasmodia and vielgeißelige.

System

The Thaumatomonadida are provided along with the Euglyphida in the group of Silicofilosea. They may, however, are more closely related to the Heteromitidae.

To order the following genera are counted:

  • Allas
  • Gyromitus
  • Thaumatomonas
  • Thaumatomastix
