The Animals

The Animals were an English rock band of the 1960s.

History

The Animals were founded in 1962 in Newcastle -upon- Tyne, and played from 1964 in London. Their music was strongly influenced by folk and blues. Discoverer and first producer to the beginning of 1966 was Mickie Most. Their first single was a cover version of Bob Dylan Baby Let Me Take You Home. The next single The House of the Rising Sun was a huge success, even in America. This was followed by the singles I'm Crying, Boom Boom, Do not Let Me Be Misunderstood and Bring It On Home To Me, got out to organist Alan Price. As a substitute you then took the keyboard player Mick Gallagher - on which recordings he can be heard, however, is far unfortunately nowhere to look up - he was loud John Steel's memories short time between the departure of Alan Price and boarding of Dave Rowberry band member on keyboards.

With Dave Rowberry at the piano was in July 1965 established the new band. This was followed by the hits We Gotta Get Out Of This Place, It's My Life, Inside Looking Out and Do not Bring Me Down. See See Rider (1966 ) reached # 1 on the Canadian Singles Chart. In September, the band suddenly broke apart and Chas Chandler was producer of The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Burdon recorded a solo album, whose single " Help Me Girl" has sold well, as opposed to the album.

He promptly put a band with a new line on the legs. Currently, they were called Eric Burdon & The New Animals (or simply " The New Animals" ). After appearances in Germany and Australia, they were part of the Monterey Pop Festival in March 1967. In April it the single When I Was Young followed. As the main representative of the Flower Power and the psychedelic movement could " Eric Burdon & The Animals ", a rotating cast, more Top 10 singles with San Franciscan Nights, Good Times, Monterey, Sky Pilot and Ring of Fire recorded. In February 1969, the band broke up finally and the members tried to be a solo artist.

While Burdon had with the funk band War found its new direction, touring independent musicians under the name " The Animals ". After more cover bands use the name and by then were no rights for the five original members decided to record a new album. This was realized in December 1975. However, it was released because of copyright problems until 18 months later. The plate Before We Were So Rudely Interrupted received respectable encouragement.

In 1983, Burdon and Price had successful solo careers behind them and after Chandler had produced several years Slade, the five original members were again on an album, Ark. Although the plate was not well received by the critics, however, brought it to significant sales and contained a single, The Night, which reached the U.S. charts in the same year.

Until the beginning of 1984 their world tour continued. Chandler announced in the press that the band broke up again because of Burdon's behavior. Price would take with him again, however, in a position, as he, in his opinion, the best white singer was at all. Greatest Hits Live - In August, the live album Rip it to Shreds followed.

In the 1990s, other bands emerged under similar names such as " Danny McCulloch 's Animals " or "Animals II" by guitarist Hilton Valentine, who each released an album. 1994 The Animals in their original line (ie without Dave Rowberry - but with Alan Price ) was added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Also Burdon used the name again to release three live albums.

Since 2001, enter " The Animals & Friends " on a rotating cast with some former members. Published in 2004 a studio album of new tracks. These "Animals & Friends " was next to the drummer John Steel until his sudden death in June 2003, Dave Rowberry on the piano. As of June 2003 Mick Gallagher again took over the piano. The magazine Rolling Stone, Eric Burdon was taken of all time in the list of the best singers of 2008.
