Before We Were So Rudely Interrupted

Occupation

Before We Were So Rudely Interrupted is the comeback album of the English band The Animals, who called themselves from this publication The Original Animals. Before We Were So Rudely Interrupted appeared in 1977 on the label Jet Records and is the genre attributed to Blue Rock. This often unnoticed album is now viewed as a kind of "forgotten classics " of the band. The Italian e-zine Viceversa leads the album at number 42 of the most important rock albums of all time.

Genesis and style

The very successful in the 1960s band The Animals in 1969 had finally disbanded and the members went their solo careers after. The most successful in this respect was next to the keyboard player Alan Price of singer Eric Burdon with the band War. After separation of the " original Animals" used various cover bands to the legally protected name of The Animals, so Eric Burdon, Alan Price, Hilton Valentine, Chas Chandler and John Steel decided as the former founding members, for their reunion in their original cast after eleven years to give the name the Original Animals.

The album title refers to a quote by William Connor, columnist for the Daily Mirror, who resumed his series of articles after the Second World War with the words: "As I was saying before I was rudely so interrupted, ... [ As I said before I so was rudely interrupted ... ] ".

The recordings took place in December 1975, but copyright difficulties delayed the publication until 1 August 1977. Was not until 1983 should appear with Ark another album of original Animals. The timing of the publication of a blues-rock album was very badly chosen. Punk and disco dominated the music business in the late 1970s and the record sold only at the declared fans of the band, even if it was well received by the majority of music critics. Lack of marketing the record company United Artists and one missing following the publication tour, did the rest. In the U.S., the album reached number 70 on the charts in the Netherlands, came in at number 24 - in his native UK, it did not reach Charts listing.
