The Arusha Accord (band)

The Arusha Accord is a six -piece band from Reading, United Kingdom. It was founded by James Clayton, Tom Hollings, Luke Williams and Mark Vincent in 2005 and combines technical Death Metal with mathcore elements.

The band's name is derived from the Arusha Agreement ( in English: " arusha accord" ) from which designates the most important peace agreement between the then Government of Rwanda MRND party with the rebels of the RPF during the civil war. The band chose the name because they wanted to distance themselves from the typical scene band name.

History

At the age of eleven years, James Clayton, Tom Hollings, Luke Williams and Mark Vincent met in elementary school. By becoming part of the singers Alex and Paul Green in 2005 formed the band The Arusha Accord. After three years of intense songwriting and rehearsals, the band released in the summer of 2008 their debut EP Nightmares of the Ocean via Basick Records, which had a few months earlier become aware of the band and they took under contract.

2009 left the band Basick Records and went on the search for a new label, since Basick Records did not yet have at this time about the possibility that planned debut album outside the UK to distribute, making it difficult to make available to the music of a wider mass. There were a few offers from different labels, among others, Listenable Records and Earache Records. But we finally decided to sign with Wolf At Your Door Records, as the band's management was part of the label. In the summer of the same year, the band released a self-titled split single with the coming of the Vancouver Group A Textbook Tragedy. It was followed by a joint tour of the UK. Following the first album The Echo Verses on which were located next to the eight new songs and three old songs from the first EP in gemasterter new version in November. Then, wanting to take a longer break after the gig at the Brutal Assault, which will be about three years, the band in the summer of 2010 announced.

In February 2011, The Arusha Accord returned to Basick Records, after they made ​​possible through contracts with the German label Century Media and the members of the Warner Music Group Company ADA worldwide distribution of its own publications. In April, the band released a re-release of The Echo Verses, which contained in addition to the first EP yet another bonus material. The album cover was designed by Tom Gilmour, who works for the company specialized in cover artworks Wood & Cloud, which has created, among others, also the cover for Devil Sold His Soul A Fragile Hope.

In March 2013, the band announced their return for the coming year. During the nearly three-year hiatus until then you 've taken care of personal matters, as well as other bands, such as the post- hardcore band Attention Thieves by Alex Green, in which he is actively involved both as a singer and as a guitarist. About the break away the band still working on her second studio album.

Style

The Arusha Accord are characterized by the constant clock and tempo changes. Bassist Luke, which is responsible for the songwriting, stated in an interview that they had stopped at the age of 16 years to write songs in the typical 4/4-time, but to have focused primarily on songwriting, other time signatures use.

The two singers Alex and Paul Green are not, as often assumed, brethren, nor are they related.
