Drama on the Eiger Nordwand ( original title: The Beckoning Silence ) is a British documentary film by Joe Simpson from 2008, which traces the dramatic events of Erstbesteigungsversuchs the Eiger North Face from 1936, in which the mountaineer Toni Kurz, Andreas Hinterstoisser, Willy Angerer and Edi Rainer died.

Production

The film was produced in 2007 by Darlow Smithson Productions commissioned by Channel 4 and the Discovery Channel. The film was shot at Mount Eiger in the Bernese Alps ( Switzerland ).

The first broadcast was in the UK on 22 October 2007 on Channel 4 and in Germany on February 3, 2008 Arte. On 29 August 2008, by Polyband the publication as a DVD which contains as the making-of specials, and an interview with Sir Chris Bonington.
