The Blue Planet

The Blue Planet ( Original title: The Blue Planet) is an eight- part documentary that deals with the marine habitat. The series, whose subtitle is The German natural history of the oceans, was created under the auspices of the BBC and was seen in September 2001 for the first time on British television. The series material was used using unpublished sequences to produce the documentary film Deep Blue.

With their excellent underwater shots continued the series according to many critics new standards. The production team, headed by British filmmaker Alastair Fothergill nature worked for several years on it to capture the sea life on film. The accompanying music was composed by George Fenton. The spokesman for the German version is Norbert Langer.

The individual episodes have a length of just under 50 minutes, but were reduced for the German television broadcast to approximately every 5 min. The DVDs for the series include only the abridged versions and no original English, because there is no corresponding abridged original version. The episodes are called:
