The Blue Van

The Blue Van or TBV is a four-piece Danish rock band. Through the use of her song Independence as the theme song of the American television series Royal Pains they were well known beyond Denmark. Songs of the group were used in series like NCIS, 90210, and Countdown - The hunt begins.

History

The Blue Van was founded in the early 2000s by four school friends in the Danish Brønderslev. The band's name referred to in Denmark, the medical transporter, which bring patients in psychiatric asylums. Their main influences include the members of the classic rock of the 1960s by groups such as The Kinks, Cream and The Pretty Things. It was followed by several singles in -house production, until the band moved to Copenhagen in 2003. There she caught the attention of the Copenhagen independent labels Iceberg Records, which took them under contract and 2004, recorded in Hamburg EP Beat Sellers published. The airplay on various college radio stations in the United States aroused the interest of the New York independent label TVT Records, which signed the band in the summer of 2004 under contract. While Iceberg Records still functioned as an artist agency and management, TVT took over the worldwide release and distribution of the albums. In April 2005, the debut album The Art of Rolling appeared at TVT, which contained in addition to the five pieces of the EP seven other pieces. In the summer of The Blue Van went on tour with Hot Hot Heat. In autumn 2006, the second album Dear Independence was released in Europe and worldwide in February 2007. It was followed by a tour opening for Electric Six. Following the acquisition of DVT by The Orchard ended the record deal and Iceberg Records once again took over the sole publication of albums by The Blue Van. After the release of the 2008 album, Man Up, the band gained through regional prominence when her song Independence became the theme song of the TV series Royal Pains. The fourth album Love Shot was published in 2010 and reached number 17 of the Danish album charts. As part of the Oscars 2010, the premiere of the commercials for the iPad was held at the The Blue Van with There Goes My Love provided the soundtrack. In the fall of 2012, the fifth studio album Would You Change Your Life appeared.
