Action

Mary Smith lives in sheltered but boring ratios under the thumb of her esteemed father, Judge Horace Smith, whose desire is to become president of the United States. Only Uncle Hannibal brings some joy into her life of luxury. As he takes it one day at a games room, this is haunted by a police raid. However, the prominent Mary remains undetected. Nevertheless, sends Father Horace exiled to Palm Beach in order to avoid a scandal. There she is accompanied by their chaperones Katie and Elly.

Mary falls in love with the Rodeo Star Stretch Willoughby from Montana. Stretch is but too shy to take note of this. Katie and Ellen she advised on how to make a man 's attention. Background

William Wyler, the original director, was fired by producer Samuel Goldwyn, as he started too many repetitions of individual scenes. The director's chair took over H. C. Potter. When the shooting schedule was exceeded, it had to be replaced by Stuart Heisler, since he had already committed to another film project. In the opening and closing credits only HC Potter was named as a director.

The film came in 1950 as the United Artists My husband, the cowboy in the West German cinemas. In this dubbed version of Gary Cooper was given the voice of Arnold Marquis. In the 1978 televised version of Gary Cooper was the voice of Hartmut Reck.
