Walter Brennan

Walter Brennan ( born July 25, 1894 in Swampscott, Massachusetts, † September 21, 1974 in Oxnard, California ) was an American actor. He won in 1937, 1939 and 1941 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Life

Brennan, who already in the school became interested in acting and starred there in school plays, acted before his military service, which he began in 1917, with minor in musical comedies.

After the First World War, he went to Hollywood and worked there - first in silent films - as a supporting actor and stuntman with.

In the 1930s he began his career as a supporting actor. In 1936 he received his first Academy Award for best supporting role in the film Take what you can get. For the 1938 film shot The golden whip Brennan received his second and produced for the 1940 film The Westerner his third Oscar. He is currently the only actor who received three Oscars for Best Supporting Actor.

Since he had broken his jaw in an accident and since then one of his legs had become stiff, Brennan took over the role of the often grumpy old man, who presented the comic component in the movies.
