The Crusher is the third studio album by the Swedish melodic death metal band Amon Amarth. It was released on May 8, 2001 on Metal Blade Records. On 29 June 2007 the album was released as a Picture - LP with a strictly limited edition of 500 copies. A re-release as The Crusher Deluxe Reissue was made on 28 August 2009.

Creation and publication history

The songwriting to The Crusher began essentially after the tour with Morbid Angel in December 1999. Only a year later, it was in November 2000 recorded in the Abyss Studios by Lars Szöke and mixed by Peter Tägtgren. Only the bonus track was added Das Boot studios not in the Abyss studio, but in the Stockholm. The mastering was done by Peter In De Betou in Stockholm's Cutting Room Studios. The cover artwork was designed jointly by Tom Thiel and the düsseldorfer graphic designer Tom Ewerhard, who also took over the rest of the album's artwork.

The Crusher Deluxe Reissue

In the course of Bloodshed Over Bochum concert series of Amon Amarth, which of 28 - took 31 December 2008, the album was performed and recorded December 30, complete and in full length. On 28 August 2009 The Crusher was re-released by Jens Bogren neugemasterte pad along with the live recording as a 2- CD Digipack. The title list corresponds to the digipack version; only in the live version of the album is missing the bonus track The Eyes of Horror, as this was not listed. The concert was also filmed and released on the bonus DVD of Surtur Rising Digipacks on March 25, 2011.

Title list

All packages come from Amon Amarth. The song Risen from the Sea (2000) presents a re-recording of the song Risen from the Sea of unreleased demo Thor Arise dar. To distinguish between the two versions, was added to the ( 2000).

Reception

The album came in the press and fans overwhelmingly positive on, but usually smaller but with restrictions on the songwriting. So forgive the author per metal.de from Webzine for the album 8 out of 10 and comes to the conclusion:

Even Alexander Melzer from metal webzine - observer.com is of the opinion that the album should find appeal especially to fans, but not necessarily when newcomers. He forgives with 9 out of 10 still a very good rating. Marcel Steinberg called, the album as " a highlight of the band" and will award 8.5 out of 10.
