The Datsuns

The Datsuns are a New Zealand rock band ( hard rock, punk rock ). They were founded in 1995 in Cambridge, New Zealand, and are still active today. Inspired by the Ramones, the musicians use the group's name as their surname.

Band History

The Datsuns in 1995, founded under the name Trinket, which translates as " worthless stuff" means, when Dolf de Borst ( E-Bass/Gesang ), Phil Buscke ( electric guitar ) and Matt Osment (drums) in her hometown Cambridge met. When Christian Livingstone ( guitar ) joined the band in 1997, they were called in to " The Datsuns " so that journalists could remember the name better. The group met later in England as the opening act. They founded their own record label "Hell Squad Records" and were able to celebrate one first success with concerts and after a few appearances in John Peel program on the British radio station BBC Radio.

" The Datsuns " want to link the rock of the '60s with the punk of the 70s, with the hard rock influence by bands such as Led Zeppelin is greater. This can easily be seen from the guitar solos of lead guitarist Christian Livingstone, whose idol is Jimmy Page.

2002 came out the first, produced by V2 Records album The Datsuns. Some critics accused the group that they take over the riffs from other bands like Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin in their songs. Others were impressed by the insouciance of the young group,

The second album Outta Sight / Outta Mind, which produced the former Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones and also played some songs Keyboard, appeared in 2004. It now has more on the " Saw " omitted and the singing, the guitar solos and the drums were given more importance. The songs were a total of more melodic.

2004 played the " Datsun " on the Big Day Out in Australia the main program and were later on as the opening act for Metallica.

On October 10, the album was released in 2008 Headstunts in Germany.
