The Daytrippers

The Daytrippers ( Original title: The Daytrippers ) is an American- Canadian film comedy from 1996 was directed by Greg Mottola, who also wrote the screenplay.. The main roles were played by Stanley Tucci and Hope Davis.

Action

Eliza lives in a small town and is happily married to Louis D' Amico, who works in New York City. One day she finds a love letter to him, she speaks with her family. Eliza, her parents, her sister Jo and Jo's boyfriend Carl go to New York to ask Louis to task.

In New York, Jo argues with Carl. Her mother Rita said, Carl would be the best thing that Jo could expect in life. Jo remembers that Rita already Eliza urged her to marry Louis.

The family goes to a party where Eliza Louis looks. She watches him for a while until he kisses a man. Only then discovered Louis his wife. It turns out that his relationship with the man lasts for months. Rita insulted Louis as a pervert and wants the whole family goes back home. Eliza gets out of the car and conciliatory talks with Louis. Then she goes for a walk.

Jo reconciled with Carl, then it will seek her sister and comforts them.

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun - Times on 18 April 1997, the character of Eliza keep quiet all the time. Her mother Rita behaving unbearable. The ending was disappointing. Ebert compared the dialogues with the dialogues in the movie Pulp Fiction by Quentin Tarantino.

Mick LaSalle wrote in the San Francisco Chronicle, 4 April 1997, the comedy was perfect for a film with a low budget. He praised the cast and representations.

Awards

Greg Mottola won the Critics Prize at the Toronto International Film Festival, the Grand Jury Prize of the Slamdance Film Festival and the Audience Award at the Athens International Film Festival in 1996. In 1997, he won two awards from the Portuguese Festival Internacional de Cinema do Porto for the Director. In 1996 he was nominated Film Festival for the Grand Special Prize of Deauville.

The film was nominated in 2000 for the Hungarian Csapnivalo Award.
