The Desert Rose Band

The Desert Rose Band was a native of California country-rock band.

Mid-eighties were found in California well-known musicians to casual bluegrass sessions together. The central figure, Chris Hillman, was a founding member of the Byrds. He had also played with the Flying Burrito Brothers, at Manassas and other groups. Bernie Leadon came from the Eagles, Al Perkins had already played with Hillman Hillman Furay band in the Souther. Other musicians were James Burton and Bill Bryson. From this group of outstanding instrumentalists in 1986 the Desert Rose Band emerged. However, some jumped off already in the early stages because they did not believe in a commercial success. Al Perkins joined Dolly Parton and was replaced by Jay Dee Maness. For Bernie Leadon John Jorgenson came. Finally, Hillman took his old companion Herb Pedersen, who had already worked with many big names in the scene.

Career

Although very high-profile musicians came together for the Desert Rose Band, it was not easy to find a record company. Some band members were already over forty years old. With the Nashville label Curb finally a treaty was concluded. Their first single Johnnie And Jack hit Ashes of Love in 1987 reached an average space of country top 100. The next three singles were released from their debut album and reached consistently top 10 places where He's Back and I'm Blue advancing to number one.

Her second album, Running, is the highlight of their musical work. With I Still Believe In You, another number 1 hit was produced. Also from the next album, Pages of Life, 1989 several successful singles were released. After that, the sales figures were after. The main reason was the lack of promotion of the record company. The songs of the Desert Rose Band were rarely played on the radio, their records were often not available in stores.

1992 a reshuffle. Some band members did not want to participate in the grueling tours. Of the three leaders Hillman, Pedersen and Jorgenson (who were usually depicted as a single on photos and album covers ) was eliminated John Jorgenson and was replaced by Jeff Ross. Tim Grogan came for Steve Duncan and Tom Brumley for Jay Dee Maness. It was released three more albums, however, only poorly sold. 1994, dissolved the Desert Rose Band.
