The album was released on June 7, 1986, did not miss the intended target: It reached number 53 on the Billboard 200 and the first time a chart listing in Europe, namely number 83 in the UK album charts. Eduardo Rivadavia, reviewer at Allmusic wrote about The Final Frontier, the album had shown a slight improvement over its predecessor and using the cover of Because the Night and the power ballad Tears of Fire Gold status reached ( in the U.S.). It should nevertheless be much of Keel - material " cliché -laden 1980s Popmetal " with " replaceable text and muscular riffs ". Even the guest posts known musician could "barely keep alive the interest in the album ." The out-coupled from the album Singles Because the Night, Tears of Fire and The Final Frontier have experienced any chart success.
