Career

Des Barres was born the son of Marquis Philip Des Barres, and grew up in Surrey. He attended the Corona Academy drama school in London. After the divorce from his first wife he married in 1977, the actress and author Pamela Des Barres. This wrote in their books Take my heart ( Ullsteinhaus, 1995) as well as Light My Fire ( Ullsteinhaus, 1989) in detail about their relationship. The couple was divorced in 1991.

As a musician

Des Barres was the lead singer of the band Silver Head and Detective in the 1970s and by Chequered Past the early 1980s. With none of these bands he had a bigger success, the prominent cast of Chequered Past ( including Steve Jones and Clem Burke) could not alter that. His first solo album under the title I'm Only Human was born in 1980; a second, Somebody Up There Likes Me, was released in 1986.
