The Jackson Five (also The Jackson 5 ), and later The Jacksons was an American soul band, which celebrated its greatest success in the 1970s.

The band was founded in 1964 as The Jackson Brothers from father Joseph Jackson and was first of the brothers Jackie, Tito and Jermaine Jackson. Marlon and Michael Jackson were joined in 1966, after which the band The Jackson Five was renamed. The first seven years Michael was the lead singer.

Musical Career

Beginnings and successes

The Jackson Five first small successes Quick celebrated, including winning several talent competitions. A short time later, she received a first recording contract with the small label Steeltown Records. Separation of Motown and name change

After separating from Motown Records they received in the spring of 1976 on Epic Records a new record deal and called themselves The Jacksons from then on, as the old naming rights were still at Motown. Jermaine remained at Motown and was replaced by Randy. Motown was known to be writing songs exclusively by professional songwriters. The brothers had the opportunity to be creative themselves at Epic.

With Show You The Way To Go But they had their only No. 1 hit with Epic, but the world tours were in the late 1970s and early 1980s groundbreaking. The songs of the Jacksons were not longer the chart topper as before, but still successful worldwide.

1980 returned back to Jermaine Jackson. From July to December 1984 took the Jacksons again a tour to the album Victory ( Victory Tour ) by the United States. Shortly after the end of the tour said Michael, who donated his tour earnings charities, his resignation by the Jacksons, which also heralded the true beginning of the end of the Jacksons.
