The Legend of Rockabye Point

The Legend of Rockabye Point is an American animated short film directed by Tex Avery in 1955.

Action

An old sea captain tells the story of the Rockabye Point, which has happened 20 years ago. At this time he had anchored near the rock and brought a large cargo catch fish on board. A polar bear and a penguin they wanted to steal, but the little penguin from the bear was repeatedly intercepted and removed from the ship. The polar bear, in turn, had to stand on the cooling chamber an aggressive guard dog who bit him as soon as he came near. To appease the mastiff was only when Rock-A- Bye Baby sang to her what the bear was doing again and again. The penguin turn now sought after by various routes, to awakening the sleeping dog, which led to several painful encounters between bear and dog. In the end, the polar bear fancied with a bag full of fish on the successful escape and climbed a high rock up to inspect his catch there. In the bag, the penguin had packed, but there was the guard dog.

The ship's captain closes his story by pointing out that one could hear the Rock-A- Bye Baby song today. In fact, the now gray-haired bear is still with the old guard dog on the rock and sing to him the song.

Production

The Legend of Rockabye Point came on 11 April 1955 as part of the Lantz cartoon series Cecily Willy in the cinemas. In contrast to later cartoons to the penguin Chilly Willy takes this in The Legend of Rockabye Point only a minor role.
