The Lion and the Cobra
The Lion and the Cobra is the debut album by Irish singer Sinéad O'Connor, which was released in the fall of 1987.
History
As O'Connor recorded the album, she was 20 years old and pregnant for the first time.
The title of the album comes from Psalm 91 ( " About lions and otters you will go " ), and the song "Never Get Old " begins with a recitative of this Psalm in Gaelic by the singer Enya.
The photo of O'Connor on the cover of the album comes from Haysi Fantayzee member Kate Garner. The U.S. edition used a " softer " motif as the cover photo.
The album sold more than 2.5 million times.
